As Bom family the year started in high gear, the new committee shared so many things that left us all in anticipation about what the year had in store for us
January was fasting and prayer and it was quite a day, the full day prayer was a great day to usher in the new year and the equally new committee.
Am trying to rush to a particular day, but you need to understand the background, so bear with me .. so on the calendar, we had a guest couple visit, and the hosts were none other than our chair couple, the Amazings.. fast forward the day was fast approaching and we were briefed about how to dress up and we are obedient people ( sometimes) so we show up and what welcomed us was nothing short of a 5 star hotel experience.. we met the couple, and they were a breath of fresh air, humble yet knowledgeable
Am excited about the actual day I want to write about so let me get to it, so the couple invites us to their home the next month which was March and that’s the day I want to talk about.. of course we were briefed again by our Amazing chairs that we have to be descent, be early and even make a convoy to the home and most of us complied but of course there are some outliers but all in all we arrived.
When you are told about someone and seen them in public you get a particular image about them so all of us had our expectations about this couple but God were we shocked , their level of humility, personal touch to whatever they did left a lot to learn
From the way we were welcomed by a beautiful ambiance, a quiet environment that welcomes you and embraces you and makes you warm and automatically feel at home.. the hugs from our hosts were as warm as the place, but we soon got over it and settled down
Like good visitors we went carrying gifts, and to spice it up one of us had to wear a kanzu leading us and asking that we be born in this home. We were accepted and then all scales fell off of our eyes and we revealed our true colours. The humility we were showing changed and we started touching the nice art work, pausing on the porch like any children at home would
I have had a fair share of hotels and therefore hotel breakfasts and the spread here was on point, ranging from garnished Irish to Apos favourite scrambled eggs, sausages, beans that tasted like beef and many more items. As for the juice, most had names I had never heard of, and the taste was simply heavenly. What stood out most was the simplicity that came with everything. You know that feeling of something perfect yet it comes so simply, that’s what our hosts did.
There was also a blend of traditional yet rich culture, the cups that I last saw at my grand parents, the clay pots, everything had a story behind it.
We must have eaten for over an hour as our gracious host went around asking what to add us, we ate and ate until we could eat no more.. and we decided to go off the table to save our stomachs
We then went on to play some games ,I went to the beautiful compound and just rested there and watched as people moved about and continued to play and enjoy the day with the hosts engaging us in insightful conversations in our small groups.
I don’t think an hour passed before we were served lunch, God was it a feast!!!! Our hosts were serving us themselves, something that was intriguing for me yet humbling. The food was so tasty yet home made and as I said earlier it was well articulated dishes, plates, the ice cream cups , the big cup for our tea lover, and half a cup for the person that wanted little tea. It was all so intentional.
It’s at this moment that I actually left the table for fear of the autopsy saying cause of death was over eating and went back to my quiet space to rest as the rest went to dance down the food , you know when you are suffering from enjoying. That’s what we were going through but all of us were smiling as we suffered
After that a suggestion came up of taking a walk around the village and the team took it on readily and it was a knowledgeable and helpful experience. As some just listened to old music to enjoy the day
What climaxed the day was my best meal ever and just when we thought we could not eat anymore, we age more. Alot more and we concluded the day with grateful hearts for a day well spent and words of wisdom from our new parents, they blessed us,prayed for us and poured lives into us and Oh what a beautiful close to a beautiful day.
